Piano 101 (Traditional):
An Introduction to Piano Basics for Ages 18 +
For the last four years, I have been teaching adult group classes at Hall Piano Company. The Piano 101 classes for adults are designed to teach you (or help you review) the piano basics of rhythm, note reading, scales, chords, and theory. These classes are a great way to get you started in order to transition into private lessons. I hope to see you in my next class!
The Level 1 class is a six-week, adult piano class that is designed for ages 18 and up. For students who are beginners or hoping to refresh after a hiatus from the instrument, it will take a more traditional approach to help them learn to play piano. Hall Piano’s premier piano establishment offers a healthy, group environment for every class. This helps keep the class fun, and it encourages students to work together and learn from each other, as well as from the instructor. Each class is 60 minutes in length and will take place on quality acoustic pianos.
Level 1 tuition is $165 plus tax per person and this covers the cost of the class, your textbook, and access to practice facilities at Hall Piano Company during regular business hours.
Classes take place evenings from 7:00-8:00pm. Each class is limited to 8 students, in order to assure that each student receives individual attention.
Next class anticipated to take place in Fall of 2019.

“I took beginner lessons with seven others in Emily Fransen’s class. She was patient and went slow as we tried to grasp what a quarter note and a rest meant. Although she followed our book she did manage to give us a couple of additional pieces to play. We enjoyed our class so much we asked her to continue working with us on the next level class. Four of us continued and we still are having difficulty cutting the cord. We enjoy our class so much as we learn and get better together.”-Carolyn Dolese-Spray
I took Adult Piano 101 with Emily at Hall Piano this past fall. She taught with such patience, yet encouraged each of us to do our best. Her technique, dedication and teaching ability made it easy for beginners to learn basic understanding of reading music. Thank you Emily for bringing the “notes” to life for me. I look forward to learning more from you in the future in next semester’s class.-Petie Danton
